What travellers said
We told them we wanted mountains but hated long car days, and they actually listened. Three nights in Aru, short walks, a lot of sitting by the river. It was the calmest week we have had in years.
The gondola was shut for two of our three days in Gulmarg. Instead of pretending otherwise, our driver knew a lower run where I could still ski and the guy at the hotel sorted lessons for my wife. They planned for the weather, which is the whole trick here.
